CALEY CC
Welcome to the Caledonian Cricket Club website.
Sponsored by Paull and Williamsons Solicitors.
Caledonian CC was founded in 1969 by staff of the Rowett Research Institute and some ex-members of the YMCA CC.
Success in the early years was at the individual level with Ian Leask (now of Stoneywood -Dyce) taking 57 wickets in 1973, more than any bowler in all the grades.
In 1978 Martin Webster won the Morrison Cup and in 1992 Doug MacMillan won the Donald Cup.
Eventually in 1994 the team won the Reid Cup. In 1996, when Caley won the Cannon Cup, Australian Phil Jirman had bowling and batting figures of 9.77 and 69.33 respectively, but played to infrequently to qualify for either cup.
James Buchan, once of Boddam and now of Methlick, won the Morrison Cup in 2002. In 2005 the Cannon Cup was again won this time with a 100% record and Neil Fraser and Grant Cordiner won the Cope and Castle Cups.In 2006 we gained promotion to grade 2 and this was followed by our 3rd successive promotion in 2007 as champions to grade 1 with Himanshu Saraswat claiming the DorNor Cup.
Caledonian joined the Industrial, now evening league, in 1970. Most memorable moment in 38 years of mainly cold damp Tuesday evenings was winning the Cup in 1984 with the result : Cults 99 (R Kernshan 3 for 3, D Allerdyce 2 for 15) Caledonian 102 for 2 (D Montgomery 30 ret, D Allerdyce 30 ret).
We are situated in Aberdeen and play in the area league called Aberdeenshire Grades, which comprises of teams from the city and the local surrounding area. Caley are currently in Grade 2.
CCC play most weekends and also on Tuesday evenings in the 20/20 Industrial league.
Caley welcome all new players of any ability and age.
